Tinubu Warns Against Infighting, Says APC Must Reclaim Osun

Addressing the gathering, President Tinubu commended the aspirants for their contributions to the party but cautioned them strongly against internal disputes — a factor he noted contributed to the APC’s loss in the previous Osun governorship election.

He emphasized that their loyalty and cooperation would determine whether the APC regains control of Osun in the next governorship election.

According to Tinubu: “You all have a duty and obligation to the party by ensuring the candidate of our party wins the next election in Osun State. You must strengthen the bonds of unity, party supremacy and collective responsibility.”

Tinubu further expressed confidence in the aspirants, promising full backing from both his office and the party’s national leadership: “I have absolute confidence in your ability to deliver victory. You have my support and that of the National leadership of the APC.”

Aspirants Sign Joint Commitment for Consensus Candidate

At the conclusion of the meeting, APC aspirants and party leaders issued a joint declaration pledging to:

Support the consensus candidate chosen by the party
Respect party supremacy during and after the nomination process
Refrain from actions that could weaken the party’s unity

INEC Deadline for Osun Governorship Candidates

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), political parties must submit the names of their candidates for the August 8, 2026 Osun governorship election on or before December 15, 2024.
