Stay off from Osun politics, PDP caucus tells Makinde

PDP Reps Caucus Warns Gov. Seyi Makinde to “Stay Away from Osun Affairs”

The Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives has issued a strong warning to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, urging him to stay clear of political matters in Osun State. The caucus, speaking through a jointly signed statement on Wednesday, condemned the alleged “illegal” governorship primary that produced Adebayo Adedamola as PDP’s 2026 candidate. www.cjsoftflix.com brings you the full report.

Lawmakers Reject Purported PDP Primaries

According to the caucus, the primary election held on Tuesday was fraudulent, unconstitutional, and orchestrated by individuals allegedly imported from Ibadan, Oyo State.

The statement was signed by six lawmakers:
  • Bamidele Salam
  • Mudashiru Alani
  • Akanni Ademola
  • Adewale Adebayo
  • Adetunji Olusoji
  • Oladebo Omoleye

They described the exercise as being conducted “with thugs and political jobbers,” warning that any individual parading themselves as the PDP candidate is engaging in criminal impersonation.

The lawmakers accused Governor Makinde of “exporting impunity, recklessness and sham to Osun,” despite the state already having a “decent sitting governor who carries everyone along in key decisions.”

Makinde Accused of Ignoring PDP Procedures

The caucus reminded Makinde that the PDP Constitution has clear guidelines for valid primaries, including the election of ward ad-hoc delegates and national delegates.

They added:
“We unequivocally reject the fraudulent conduct of a purported primary.”

They advised anyone genuinely interested in running for the 2026 Osun governorship election to follow due process and “play by the rules.”

INEC Urged to Disregard Purported Primaries

The lawmakers called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ignore the primary outcomes and align strictly with the PDP Constitution and established guidelines.

National PDP Crisis Deepens

The ongoing conflict in Osun is rooted in a broader leadership crisis rocking the PDP at the national level. Factions loyal to various power blocs — including those aligned with Governor Makinde and another faction linked to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike — have intensified internal wrangling.

These rivalries have resulted in:
  • Suspension and counter-suspension of key national officers
  • Disruption of congresses and primary preparations nationwide
  • Institutional paralysis in organs responsible for party administration

This dysfunction has made it impossible for many state chapters, including Osun, to conduct legitimate primaries.

Governor Adeleke’s Exit from PDP

The chaos worsened when, on November 4, 2025, Governor Ademola Adeleke formally resigned from the PDP, citing frustrations with the escalating national leadership crisis. His resignation further destabilized the party structure in Osun State.

As the PDP’s internal crisis continues to unfold, stakeholders and political observers await whether the national leadership will intervene decisively or allow the crisis to deepen ahead of the 2026 governorship race.
